Social Media & Faith—Guiding Your Kids in a Digital World
Parenting in the digital age comes with challenges our parents never faced. Social media can be a powerful tool for connection, but it also brings risks—comparison, distractions, and influences that may not align with our faith. As Christian parents, how do we help our teens navigate this digital world while staying rooted in Christ?
Teaching Discernment in Social Media Use
Encourage Critical Thinking – Help teens question what they see online. Is it true? Is it helpful? Does it align with God’s truth?
Set Healthy Boundaries – Limit screen time, establish tech-free zones, and encourage face-to-face interactions.
Model Good Habits – Teens watch what we do. If we constantly scroll, they will too. Show them how to balance tech use with real-life connections.
Talk About Identity – Social media often distorts self-worth. Remind your teen that their value is in Christ, not likes or followers.
Pray for Wisdom – Ask God to guide your teen’s online interactions and protect their hearts from negative influences.
Trusting God in the Digital Age
We can’t control everything our kids see online, but we can equip them with wisdom, faith, and discernment. More than anything, we must trust that God is leading them through this digital world, just as He leads us.
